We are hiring interns for the 2025-2026 academic year. Interns are vital to the functioning of all aspects of our program. We are looking for students who have leadership experience or who have a capacity to step into new leadership roles. Having taken an Inside-Out class through our program is strongly preferred. We encourage people with lived experience–personal or family–with the criminal legal system to apply. Experience with a project similar to our program is helpful but not required.
The range of tasks for interns varies widely. General areas include:
- Administrative (preparing readings and other materials, data entry)
- Communication and public relations (website, LinkedIn, and newsletters)
- Fundraising (working with UO partners to design and implement fundraising efforts)
- Project support (event planning, project design and execution)
- Policy research and government relations
- Classroom support (transportation logistics, student communication, support in-class activities, etc)
- Working with Sponsors Inc. to support residents with technology and job skills
Time requirements vary depending on current projects and prison schedules. However, we ask students to plan to commit to at least 3 hours per week of pre-scheduled meetings and/or work sessions, and at least another 3 of independent work. Work inside the prisons will be in addition to these time commitments. To be a successful intern, it is crucial to be able to work well within a team, to be a self-starter, and to be adaptable to any changing circumstances that arise.
Applications are due April 27th by 11:59pm. Apply via this Google Form.
